Recipe for fun...

It was our turn to make some play dough to bring in to preschool.
Since October starts tomorrow, we made orange.
This is an easy recipe, and, as you can see,
we had a lot of fun making it together!

In a medium-size heavy saucepan, mix 2 Cups flour,
1 Cup salt, 4 teasp. cream of tartar.
Add 2 teasp. cooking oil, and 2 Cups water, and
food coloring.
Stir frequently over medium heat until the mixture
pulls away from the sides and becomes "play-doh"-like
consistency. Remove from heat to wax paper.
When cool enough to handle, knead.
Then place in air-tight container.
Will keep for several weeks.

*Editor Note: We assembled all the ingredients in a large bowl first- before transferring to the stovetop-made it more child-friendly that way*

It's a date...

(Our own iron chef helping make pizza)

Today has been set aside as National Family Day.
A little reminder to our over-scheduled selves of the importance
of spending time together as a family.
Maybe throw a meal together. It doesn't have to be fancy.
Time to gather everyone around the table together.
Time to converse with one another. (Sorry texting does not count)
Time to enjoy...
...time together!

Pink tutus and football...

Properly attired (yes, that's a tutu and there's also a tiara) and busy helping Baba plant grass seed.
Go Colts!
Yep, she's her Baba's girl in every way!

Nothin' but blue skies...

"Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile."
William C. Bryant

We have been enjoying some delicious weather here in our corner of the world.
Abundant sunshine, warm days and cool, crisp nights.
Absolutely delightful.
Days of slower paced summer fun and sun
disappearing.
Busy mornings, school, and other activities
creating a new rhythm in our daily life.
Hoping you enjoy your weekend!

A solemn responsibility...

...to remember:
the 2974 who died.
the 24 listed as missing.
the families, friends and loved ones of those lost.

...to never forget:
the unity, strength, and gritty determination we shared as a people in those days that followed is a formidable force that can overcome great obstacles.

...to honor and pray for:
our service men and women who are fighting to protect our precious freedom.

In the air...

...ever so subtly, it's happening.
Daylight hours are quietly disappearing.
Morning air, once thick and steamy,
Now with a foretelling crispness.
Butterflies and bees,
quenching their thirst on
Summertime blooms,
a bit gangly and tired.
Birds and squirrels scampering
about, preparing
for what's to come.

Hoping everyone enjoys the last long holiday weekend of the summer!

"From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised!"

...Warm-up

Guess who had her preschool orientation this morning?
Talk about excitement!
No extra prodding needed to get dressed and out the door for this girl.
Purple backpack
and blinged-out nametag positioned just so...
Lookout world-
Here she comes!
